There are always discouragements that we face. Even in times where we feel we should be glowing with positivity and carrying about with no worries in the world, we encounter realities that burden us with heaviness, stress, and anxiety.
I was feeling such bouts of discouragement this morning. I felt tired, weak, and crushed by the weight of responsibilities and expectations looming over my head. I knew I had a lot of work to attend to later in the day, and was feeling extra overwhelmed with fears of not maintaining a balanced lifestyle. In short, negativity clouded my judgment, waking me up with a rocky start.
Following routine, I hopped in the car to head to mass. The liturgy proceeded as normal, but I was still feeling heavy, consumed by thoughts of the day ahead and distracted by my recent shortcomings. It wasn't until walking up to receive the Eucharist that my mood changed; indeed, as soon as I received Jesus, everything was made brighter. Walking back to my pew and falling to my knees, I shut my eyes and embraced the peace of Christ, because He is just that: peace in the purest, most effective sense.
But what was most profound throughout this whole experience was the thought, or perhaps, the feeling, that aroused within me, conveying: It will all be okay.
And that was a message most beautiful.
The picture displayed below was one I took after arriving home; it was simply a continuation of God's infinite goodness and love He had blessed me with this morning.
Though my initial sense of darkness was certainly not the most crippling experience of my life, it was a reflection of the darkness we all face throughout our lives. Let us note, however, that the Light shall forever break through all darkness of the world, revealing sunshine and blue skies for all our lives.
